Cisco

In McAdory I'm enrolled in a Cisco networking class taught by the coolest instructor I've ever
had, that's Mr. Brown. I like the way he teaches the class and I enjoy the class he teaches. I wish to
continue taking this course throughout high school if at all possible.

So far I've passed semester 1 of the program and currently am in the middle of semester 2.
Semester 1 deals with the physical properties of networking and the OSI layer, which is essential to
the rest of the course. It lays down the foundation for the squential semesters and builds from chapter
to chapter. In semester 1 I learned: the OSI model, how to make a crossover, rollover and straight
cable, about the TCP/IP protocols, basic troubleshooting, subnetting, how to install and setup a
network card on a computer, and the certain kinds of network that exist.
In semester 2, Cisco goes in depth on routers and explains how they work and what language
they use. So far I'm kind of lost on it because I haven't read all I should have. I am though soon as
soon as I can get enough time I will review all of semester 2. So far I have learned about the
languages that Cisco routers use ( the Cisco IOS ), the types of router protocols that exist, and
also how to access routers from a computer using hyperterminal.
